Community approaches and working with people in more collective ways is an area we are looking forward to being involved with further. This interest has been mostly inspired by the long history of involvement in the practice and documentation of community approaches by the Dulwich Centre in Adelaide, Australia.
For this purpose we have teamed up with other colleagues who share this same interest in narrative and community work. The small team of members and associates of Clifton Centre has already started conversations and planning the projects we would like to be involved in and support.
Towards the future we foresee that at times we will generate our own projects and at other times we will look forward to joining with others already fostering community practices.
At present we are looking into working with communities in rural parts of Australia and supporting work taking place in Mexico. For the past four years Mercedes Martínez Cruz and Mark Gordon have been offering training workshops on narrative therapy in Mexico City. An outcome of this is has been an increasing interest to support and be involved in community projects with colleagues in Mexico.
In the coming months we look forward to letting you know more about these community initiatives and would value hearing about your own work with communities and groups of people.

Mercedes Martínez Cruz
Mercedes Martínez Cruz has an interest in working with people affected by trauma and in particular those who have experienced violence in their relationships. She considers that violence against women and children is a social problem that affects not only individual lives but also the lives of families and communities. Mercedes therefore believes in the importance of developing community responses to this problem that take into account issues of culture and gender.
Milan Colic
Milan Colic consults with people of all ages in family, group work and community contexts. Milan is passionate about collaborating with people to challenge problems and support the emergence of their preferred lives. Milan is particularly interested in how narrative methodologies can be used to respond to individuals, families and communities who have experienced trauma. Recently, he has been working with young African refugees, using the 'Team of Life' initiative. This is an exercise originated by David Denborough (Dulwich Centre) to engage in meaningful conversations through sporting metaphors.
Mark Gordon
Mark Gordon is the director of Clifton Centre. Mark’s work includes providing therapy, supervision and training. Mark believes strongly in supporting and working with communities and groups of people in responding to hardship and trauma. Mark also sees a broad range of possibilities for people joining together to address issues of injustice.
