Beginning in May 2010, participants will join Mark Gordon from Clifton Centre to explore the key ideas and practices of narrative therapy. Mark is a highly regarded therapist and teacher who has provided training in Australia and internationally. This course will offer a comprehensive and rigorous examination of a narrative approach to therapeutic and community work through discussion, structured exercises and selected readings.
The course will consist of the following:
Two blocks of three days each. Six full days of training.
Review and practice of key micro-maps of narrative therapy that guide therapeutic conversations and support work with individuals, families, groups and communities.
Course text & reading pack included.
An individual consultation with Mark giving attention to the integration of skills developed during the training blocks into participants specific area of work. In person or via phone for regional / interstate participants.
Between the two teaching blocks and after the second block students will be invited to read a small selection of papers from the course reading pack and submit two 500 word written reflections. Additional reading from the core text 'Maps of Narrative Practice' by Michael White will supplement the reading pack.
Online forum for participants to be in contact with each other to share reflections on course readings and training.
This course design is intended for the inclusion of people from regional and interstate areas as well as from Melbourne. The training block format will allow people to immerse themselves in a supportive and engaging learning environment with plenty of time for practice and review.
