Clifton Centre is a Melbourne based practice established in 2001 by Mark Gordon. Clifton Centre provides counselling, training, supervision and supports community projects.
At Clifton Centre we share a particular interest in narrative therapy and in finding different ways of sharing with others the ideas and practices that inform a narrative approach to therapeutic and community based work.
Narrative Therapy is an evolving collection of ideas and practices that inform a respectful, collaborative and non pathologising approach to working with people and communities. Narrative therapy seeks to collaborate with people in addressing what they are experiencing and have lived through by inviting them to maintain a connection with those parts of their lives that can be sustaining of the ways they prefer to live.
At Clifton Centre we think of ourselves as being part of a community of people who have an interest and experience in the ideas and practices of narrative therapy. We therefore seek opportunities to connect and work in conjunction with other people from Australia and overseas who share our enthusiasm for this way of working.
In recent years guest therapists and trainers from the USA, Canada, New Zealand and Norway have presented their work as part of our Melbourne based workshops and seminars.
